Modern Farmhouse

Perched lightly within its hinterland setting, the Valdora Residence is a carefully resolved response to contemporary Queensland living, demonstrating how thoughtful building design can achieve clarity, environmental performance, and a rich lifestyle outcome within a modest budget.

Influenced by Scandinavian principles, the home reinterprets the modern farmhouse typology for a subtropical climate. A series of refined, low-slung forms and a restrained material palette create a calm, enduring aesthetic, while carefully framed openings capture expansive views and foster a seamless connection between indoors and out.

Passive design underpins the project to maximise natural light, promote cross-ventilation, and ensure thermal comfort throughout the seasons. These principles are reinforced by integrated sustainable systems, including solar generation with battery storage, rainwater harvesting, and an on-site aerobic treatment system - supporting complete self-sufficiency and resilience.

Internally, spaces unfold with clarity, efficiency and connection, balancing openness with moments of retreat. The result is a home that feels both grounded and elevated - timeless in its expression, deeply responsive to place, and attuned to its purpose.
